PROTACIO MEDICAL SERVICES, INC had its humble beginning when its patriarch, Dr. Delfin T. Protacio founded Protacio Clinic and started his medical practice in Baclaran, Paranaque City in 1935. He was the pioneering doctor in this busy area of Paranaque City. The clinic started to have a 10-bed lying –in facility in the early 1970’s. Being the first healthcare facility in the area, Protacio Clinic became a prime healthcare provider.

In 1974, PROTACIO MEDICAL SERVICES, INC., as a family corporation was established. It manages and operates Protacio Hospital, a first level referral hospital (formerly referred to as a secondary hospital) with an authorized 30-bed capacity. It boasts of a strong outpatient department specializing Pediatrics, Family Medicine, Pulmonology, and Obstetrics-Gynecology. It further expanded its outpatient services to industrial medicine catering to the well-being of the employees and staff of the different companies in the area. It also provides Pre-Employment medical examination and Annual Physical Examination.

Protacio Hospital was able to build an image of a “hospital with personalized services.” A patient-centered approach has helped the hospital increase its patient base. Its services maintained its prominence and prestige; and therefore has become the standard of other healthcare facilities and competitors in terms of personal service, competitive pricing, and availability of specialists.

The facility provides services to support its evidence-based approach in patient care. These include Pharmacy, Radiology, Ultrasound, CT-scan, a complete clinical laboratory, special services such as electrocardiogram, colonoscopy and gastroscopy. The hospital has a fully equipped OR-DR complex which has three operating theaters: one for General Surgery and Laparoscopic (minimally invasive) Surgery, the other one for Ophthalmologic Surgery, and the last one serves as the Delivery Room.

A well-equipped recovery room complements the OR-DR complex.
